Essential Qualification

(a) Degree Requirement – Any ONE of the following:

• M.Sc. in Physics/Applied Physics/Engineering Physics/Space Physics/Atmospheric Science /Meteorology/Planetary Sciences;
  OR
• M.S./M.E./M.Tech. in Atmospheric Science/Space Science/Planetary Science/Applied Physics /Engineering Physics

Minimum Marks: 60% aggregate (average of all semesters) OR CGPA/CPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or equivalent

(b) Qualifying Test – Any ONE of the following:

• CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET), including NET-Lectureship
• Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by MHRD
• Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)

Selection Process – ISRO VSSC JRF 2026

1. Initial Screening of online applications to shortlist meritorious candidates based on academic qualifications and GATE/NET/JEST scores
2. Interview – Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview at VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram
3. Call letters for interview will be sent to shortlisted candidates by email only
4. At the time of interview, candidates must produce all original documents (certificates, mark sheets, NOC if employed, equivalency certificate for foreign degrees)
5. Result will be announced on the VSSC website after the interview

Outstation candidates called for interview will be reimbursed 2nd Class Railway Sleeper fare (by shortest route) on production of ticket/ticket number. Candidates travelling in higher class will be reimbursed sleeper fare only.

Note: Candidates who fail to submit NOC (if employed under Govt./PSU/Autonomous Bodies) at the time of interview will NOT be permitted to appear and TA will not be paid.
