- Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or medium at degree level

Selection Process – SSC JHT 2026
- Paper-I – Computer Based Examination (Objective Type)
- Part-I: General Hindi (100 Questions/100 Marks)
- Part-II: General English (100 Questions/100 Marks)
- Duration: 2 Hours (with sectional timer of 1 hour per part)
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer
- Paper-II – Descriptive Paper (Translation & Essay)
- Translation passage: Hindi to English & English to Hindi
- Essay in Hindi and English
- Total: 200 Marks | Duration: 2 Hours
- Document Verification (DV) – Conducted by User Departments after final result
Merit Calculation:
- Final Merit = 50% weightage of Paper-I + 100% marks of Paper-II
- Category-wise separate cut-offs may apply for Paper-I and Paper-II
Minimum Qualifying Marks in Paper-I:
- UR: 30% | OBC/EWS: 25% | All other categories: 20%
PwBD/PwD candidates eligible for scribe get 2 hours 40 minutes for both Paper-I and Paper-II.
Note: No TA/DA is paid for appearing in the examination.

- Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) if not already done on the new website. (Note: OTR from the old site ssc.nic.in is NOT valid for the new site)
- Log in using your Registration Number and Password
- Click on “Apply” under “Combined Hindi Translators Examination, 2026” in the Live Exam tab
- Fill in all details including Educational Qualifications, Translation Diploma/Experience, and examination centre preferences (up to 3 centres in order of priority)
- Capture your live photograph using webcam/mobile device as per instructions – do NOT upload a pre-existing photograph
- Upload scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format (10–20 KB, dimensions: 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm)
- Complete Aadhaar-based authentication if opting for the same (recommended – prevents rejection on photo/signature grounds)
- Pay the application fee of ₹100 online (exempted categories need not pay)
- Preview and verify all details before final submission
- Submit and take a printout of the application form for your records

- All posts carry All India Service Liability (AISL) – selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India
- Candidates on final selection may be required to acquire proficiency in local language of allotted State/UT
- Post preference must be submitted online before FRTA declaration – options once submitted cannot be changed
- Candidates not submitting post preferences within the stipulated time will not be considered for any post in FRTA
- Canvassing in any form or concealing facts will lead to immediate disqualification
- Possession of mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, or electronic gadgets in the examination hall will result in 3 to 5 years debarment
- Using impersonation or forged documents carries 7 years debarment
- SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates must produce valid caste certificates in prescribed format only – certificates in other formats will be rejected
- OBC candidates must ensure they do not fall in creamy layer on the closing date of application
- EWS candidates must produce Income & Asset Certificate valid for FY 2026–2027 based on income for FY 2025–2026
- Success in the examination does not confer right of appointment unless the Government is satisfied in all respects
- Candidates on probation for 2 years must pass such training/examinations as prescribed by the Controlling Authority
